PARASITE POLICY

The City of Fox Lake Public Library staff and Board of Trustees are committed to providing excellent patron service in a safe and inviting atmosphere. Staff and library patrons share responsibilities to ensure this atmosphere is always maintained.

On rare occasions, evidence of parasite activity may be found at the library. The Fox Lake Public Library has a procedure for addressing this situation. Patrons can feel confident that we take all cases of parasites seriously and we treat or dispose of any contaminated materials promptly.

The Fox Lake Library Director or designee may suspend the library privileges of a library patron due to parasitic activity and material replacement costs may be incurred. Library privileges may be restored after proof of treatment is provided from a certified professional exterminator at the expense of the individual. A patron’s privileges that have been suspended under this policy may appeal the suspension to the Board of Trustees in writing. Any suspension being appealed shall remain in effect until rescinded by the Board of Trustees.
