The Book Club meets the fourth Thursday of the month at 6pm. Public is welcome to join the discussion. Call the Library for more information and for your copy of this month’s selection.
The Library Board and staff are pleased to be coordinating an Eagle Scout project with Sean Wokas, a resident of Fox Lake. Sean is a member of the Waupun Area Boy Scout Troop 711.
Sean’s goal is to provide the leadership on a team which will ultimately plan, design, and build two pieces of furniture for the Library: a four-carrel unit for the public computers, as well as shelving to provide much needed space for print and non-print materials.
Part of the process of completing the project is to raise funds to purchase supplies for the furniture. Sean needs to raise $2000 and has already received donations from the Fox Lake Public Library Friends and other local organizations. Fund raising events are being planned.
Sean’s goal is to complete his Eagle Scout rank by June 2014. Anyone wishing to help Sean succeed at his Eagle Scout project can donate funds at the Library.
The Library will host Dr. Heather Schmidt, from the Agnesian Regional Clinic in Fond du Lac on Saturday March 8 at 1pm. Dr. Schmidt’s presentation will focus on helping people learn the importance of a healthy heart and ways to help decrease the risk of heart disease. She will also inform the audience about diabetes: what are the symptoms, treatments, lifestyle changes, maintenance issues and preventative behaviors of the disease. These topics can easily be discussed in tandem, since it is a known fact that many diabetics will develop heart disease.
This program is free and open to the public. Diabetic refreshments will be served. Call the Library for more information.
